Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Group

The Library is looking for community members to join our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Group. The goal of this Advisory Group is to provide input, feedback and ideas, based on the lived/living experiences of group members, that will make the Library's programs, services and collections more inclusive for everyone in our community.

The group will include up to 14 members. Seats will be allocated using an intersectional lens to ensure there is broad and diverse representation of community members based on race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender expression, age, (dis)ability, and socio-economic status, among other social factors.

The group will gather monthly at the Library (in person with the option to join virtually if required) to:

  • Engage and participate in conversations to help Library staff understand the needs, values, perceptions, and barriers faced by diverse people in our community.
  • Provide input and feedback on Library programs, events, services, and collections.
  • Provide feedback on physical Library spaces.
  • Provide input and feedback on Library marketing and communications.
  • Provide recommendations for changing/adding programs and services to foster greater inclusion.
  • Provide recommendations for public events at the Library that will encourage and inspire reflection in our community about diversity, equity and inclusion and support the Library's community-building efforts.
  • Bring diverse and important socio-cultural issues to the Library's attention.

If you're interested in applying to be a part of this group, please fill out the form below!

We respect that you may prefer not to answer some of the questions, but we encourage you to provide information so we can ensure a diverse and representative group of people.
